Spalting is the coloration of wood caused by fungus. The fungus grows, consuming and supplanting the wood until the log fully dries and the growth stops.
I cut a log of spalted maple into 25 slices and traced the zone lines of the fungus as it moved through the wood. I composited the 50 drawings into the specific non-form doubled in the print. I also carved a negative of the form and cast glass into the mold in order to pull out a three dimensional manifestation of change over time.
